Volnay Premier Cru

Robardelle 2023

The wines from Labouré-Roi in Nuits-Saint-Georges have
been signed by Célénie Desarbres since the 2023 vintage.

When asked about how her first solo winemaking campaign have fared, she cites
one wine as her inspiration:
‘Volnay Premier Cru Robardelle 2023 is one of the most beautiful wines I have
ever made. This wine comes from a plot at the bottom of the hillside. The grapes,
harvested on 13 September when perfectly ripe, were exceptionally lovely and did
not require any sorting on arrival in the winery.
The harvest was fully de-stemmed, placed in vats and kept chilled for several days.
Daily punching down and pumping over and two rounds of rack and return were
used to extract colour, tannins and concentration. After alcoholic fermentation and
post-fermentation vatting, the grapes were pressed at the end of September then
the wine was placed in (30% new) barrels for eight months.
Its deep purple colour offers a glimpse of its concentration. The nose begins
with small, ripe red and black fruit aromas before developing toasted and spicy
touches. On the palate, the wine is full and rounded in the attack with a rich,
velvety, well-balanced structure borne up by intense spicy and fruity notes. This
is a generous, complex wine in keeping with the house’s style.’
