NOUVELLES RHÔNE VALLEY
DE BOISSET
1ST SEMESTER
2025
Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages Plan de Dieu ‘Saint Mapalis’ 2023
The mild, dry winter weather continued through to the spring. The rain arrived during
budding and bunch formation, somewhat slowing the growth cycle whilst also promoting
good flowering. The vines withstood the record heatwave during the second half of August
very well. The fairly late harvests were completed in what was still hot and dry weather.
The grape bunches were harvested in perfect health with concentrated grapes. In summary,
the late and generous 2023 vintage offers a particularly aromatic, elegant and fresh profile.
The three grape varieties that go into Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages Plan de Dieu are harvested
separately. Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre and Syrah are fully de-stemmed before spending
three to five weeks in vats. After blending, the wine is matured in vats for six months.
This Plan de Dieu offers up small red fruit and garrigue notes (including thyme, sage and
rosemary). It is elegant and well balanced on the palate with a fruity and spicy finish.
It would go wonderfully with a rack of lamb with olives, a vegetable crumble or a pheasant
terrine. Serve at 13 to 15°C from now or within the next five or six years.
