biodiversity

Preserving vegetation is crucial for
the largest estate in the Jura (234 ha),
if it is to produce wines of excellence.

As an HVE 3-certified estate since
the 2020 vintage, Domaine Maire &
Fils implement an annual programme
designed to promote the biodiversity
of its winegrowing heritage.
Flower-filled fallows and
beehives
The bare soil is sown with nectar
source plants to prepare the soil for
3 to 4 years before new vines are
planted. These flower meadows also
nourish the six beehives installed on
the Sorbief plot, which produced their
first honey in 2022.
