CALIFORNIA WINTER 2020-2021
NOUVELLES
DE BOISSET
NEW
Orange wine aged in amphora
In Sonoma, DeLoach Vineyards is cultivating
its garden in a protected environment.
This comprises the vineyards managed according to biodynamic
principles, the vast organic kitchen garden, beehives, herb beds for
winegrowing preparations, the organic compost system, animals,
and a vortex. The quest for purity and elegance in its wines has led
the estate to an ancient method using amphora for two of its wines.
Ribolla Gialla 2019
A white wine made from an old Italian varietal from the
Friuli region. Vinification is carried out in amphora. The juice
is fermented on the skins for four weeks to give a lovely
so-called orange wine, which goes well with Asian cuisine.
Carignan 2019
Made from organic grapes from the Mendocino region which
were vinified in whole bunches in egg-shaped concrete
vats before ageing for five months in amphora. This ancient
practice brings richness to the wine and enhances the
aromas. A full-bodied, fruity wine to accompany grilled meats.

DeLoach Vineyards Chardonnay
2019, Mendocino
A quarter of the area under vine in Mendocino in
the north of Sonoma has organic certification,
covering some 1,720 hectares*.
Given DeLoach’s longstanding philosophy of respect for nature, it was an obvious
move to produce a wine from the largest organically-cultivated wine region in
the United States.
The first of these is the magnificent 2019 vintage, which has yielded a
Chardonnay that is all about delicacy, with complex aromas of tropical fruits,
pear, and almond. Good length in the mouth and vivacity complete the picture.
* The whole region covers 6,880 hectares.
