18 Boisset La Famille des Grands Vins www.boisset.com - Summer 2018 Rhône Valley TWO NEW CHAPTERS IN THE BONPAS STORY One is a Côtes du Rhône cru, Grand Orateur Rasteau; the other, a Côtes du Rhône Garde de Bonpas , Grignan-Les-Adhémar. These two wines from the intense 2016 vintage have the familiar fruit-driven Bonpas style, and stand out for their rich aromas and soft tannins. Rasteau Grand Orateur 2016, the power of fruit A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan from selected plots on slopes with large round pebbles, for this vintage, all three varietals were vinified together. Rack and return was used at the start of fermentation, before giving way to the traditional Rhône method*, which results in velvety tannins, expressing red berry aromas with a pleasing length. A charming match for meat in sauce or game, its power requires a dish which can measure up. Grignan-Les-Adhémar Garde de Bonpas 2016, Delightfully spicy A blend of Grenache and Syrah from plots selected for their stony clay-limestone soils. The grapes are vinified together. Before devatting, the fine lees are put in suspension to accentuate the delicacy of the wine. Perfect with a game terrine or exotic sunny cuisine. *Consists of submerging the cap of skins at the end of fermentation Bonpas celebrates 700 years with a new internet showcase For seven centuries, the Chartreuse de Bonpas has stood in the southern Rhone Valley, and 2018 marks the brand’s internet debut.
