It embodies eight centuries of history, with towers dating back to its most ancient origins. It sits peacefully nestled among rolling hills that embody the true spirit of Beaujolais. The Château is surrounded by an estate of more than 100 hectares at the foot of Mount Brouilly and has been working hard to improve the quality of its vines since 2009. Its new packaging translates this rise with a more readable approach, highlighting the Château and promoting the name of the cuvée . Two years ago, a white wine was added to the two reds. Brouilly Réserve du Château, the ambassador The main wine produced, it is 80% destalked for a more sophisticated feel. It is aged for six months in oak to develop its structure and soften the tannins. This is a gracious wine, with violets and black fruit jam on the nose, whose silkiness reveals a certain minerality and indulgent balance. Beaujolais-Villages Chardonnay, the perfect aperitif A blend of grapes from three young plots of Chardonnay, pressed and then aged for eight months in 450-liter demi-muids and stainless steel to develop its fruity aromas. It offers white blossom and acacia on the nose, fullness in the mouth, and a citrus finish. Brouilly Grande Réserve, the gastronomic wine This cuvée is the result of a selection of old vines. Produced in a limited edition of numbered Italian bottles, it enjoys a long maceration, with the aromas extracted through pigeage and pumping-over. It is aged for 12 months on lees, resulting in a powerful wine with lovely structure, floral notes of iris and violet, with lovely roundness and aromas of black berries. Beaujolais Bienvenue en Beaujonomie! On 2 July, the forthcoming Bienvenue en Beaujonomie event was presented by Inter Beaujolais to all the stakeholders in the Beaujolais wine region. This laid out the concept and gave the opportunity to participate in a masterclass run by sommelier Fabrice Sommier, on the theme of Beaujolais wines with character. This was also the occasion for a premier at the Château de Pierreux, when chef Sylvain Belouin of the Pigeon Blanc in Anjou, member of the group of Young European Restaurateurs, delighted some 20 guests with a grand spread of revisited traditional dishes of his authentic and contemporary cuisine. This meal was, naturally, accompanied by some characterful Beaujolais wines in magnums, including the silky Brouilly Château de Pierreux 2013. This annual event will take place on the second weekend in June, and will bring together all Beaujolais wine estates, allowing the public to (re)discover Beaujolais wines of character in a chic yet relaxed atmosphere. Each year, a different Beaujolais appellation will be honored through a program of special events. Note the dates for the inaugural edition of Bienvenue en Beaujonomie on 8 and 9 June 2019. www.beaujonomie.com / #vinsdubeaujolais / #beaujonomie Chef Sylvain Belouin and his wife at the stove at Pierreux.
