17/10 - Les Grands Terroirs are to Burgundy what single malts are to whiskies...
Les Grands Terroirs are to Burgundy what single malts are to whiskies – the very expression of pure origin with an added sparkle. Produced in limited edition cuvées from the heart of village appellations, these wines express characterful terroirs, reinforced by exceptional ageing for more than six years, making for some rare treasures.
After the 2006 vintage, it is time to enjoy the 2010 version of Trois Saints Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs. With delicacy and breadth, this 100% Chardonnay is produced from the three appellations of St. Romain, St. Aubin, and St. Véran. These three personalities come together in a vintage full of freshness and elegance, with excellent keeping potential. It is a delicately complex balance between power and sophisticated aromas that is lively in the mouth with notes of pêche de vigne, pear, and vanilla.
After the 2005 vintage, Les Grands Rayes-Blanc Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs from 2007 hails from the small eponymous plot in Gevrey-Chambertin, at the foot of the Lavaux valley. It produces exclusively red grapes that are reputed for their power and long keeping potential.
The weather was tricky in 2007 leading to rapidly maturing grapes that were extremely concentrated. The resulting wine is tinted with amber hues, and offers an aromatic bouquet of toasted bread, quince, and acacia with touches of fresh fruit like peach and raspberry. A 100% Pinot Noir with gracious vinosity.
