This Pinot Noir Terroir d’Altitude is the latest wine in a premium range of vintage varietal wines. It is an intense wine from a selected plot on the Jurassic limestone hillside on soil that is rich in flint and with a climate ideally suited to the Pinot Noir grape, with cool nights and dry, windswept days.
This distinguished wine is characterized by elegance and vigor, with intense notes of red berries and sweet spices.
The 2018 vintage
This was a fine vintage marked by alternating periods of rain and sunshine throughout the vegetative cycle which nourished the vines correctly and produced a good balance of sugar and acidity, enabling them to reach optimum ripeness. The wind helped blow away any threat of disease and helped naturally concentrate the grapes. Cool September nights were perfect for integrating aromas and polyphenols.
The grapes were harvested at night to preserve all their freshness. Vinification was adapted to the vintage with four days of cold pre-fermentation maceration to encourage an intense color and an aromatic vigor. Fermentation at a moderate temperature ensured gentle extraction, then six months in wood brought finesse and complexity to the wine.
