Concentrated and elegant
Château de Pierreux spans 110 hectares in the Brouilly appellation, taking its name from one of its finest vineyards, ‘Pierreux’, which covers 42 hectares. This land reference is currently being considered for Premier Cru designation as part of the ‘Terre des Brouilly’ ODG project.
Brouilly Lieu-dit Pierreux 2022 is produced in limited quantities (6,608 bottles) and sold on allocation.
This high lineage wine is produced from two remarkable and complementary plots located in the Pierreux area, with soils that impart structure, volume on the palate, minerality and floral and spicy aromas to the Gamay.
- A plot on the south-facing slope of Pierreux. The vines thrive on volcanic bluestone and deep schist soils.
- A parcel on the eastern plateau with siliceous volcanic rocks of varying depths.
This diversity of terroirs produces an elegant, powerful ruby-red wine with hints of purple, and a black cherry and blueberry nose with subtle spices. The tannins are present yet very supple on the palate, combined with a lovely retro-olfaction of blueberry cream, chocolate and spices. Aromas are both intense and persistent, with a hint of minerality typical of the Pierreux terroir.
